Labour Policy

The Labour system of monitoring is very extensive and verifiable. Freedom of association by means of elections of shop steward ensures labour representation and mutual workability with the management. Our forms structure ensure all record is maintained for salaries, overtimes, benefits and leaves which are according to the law of Pakistan but even stricter in some instances than the local law and can be audited anytime by our customers.

Health and Safety

Our Environment, health and safety system is as detailed as our Labour system with form structure also ensuring the trace ability of accidents, Fire drills, chemical storage and spill(protected by second containment),Waste management segregated in hazardous and non hazardous waste. The sewage system is also in line to ensure that the waste water is properly disposed off. The dormitories are standardized, safe and clean. Fire alarms and fire fighting equipment is properly located at designated areas.

R & D

Our product Quality Research and Development are also at the same pace. We have patents which currently are being used by our customers. We have machine printing in which Leatherware is a pioneer in developing a ball to ball system of printing on Machines not by workers. We have a turnaround service of any new design no matter what it is which our customer may come up with of only 4 days with special equipment to actually assist us in design and cutting There are many more creative ideas and designs present at our company, the details of which can be made available upon request. Our laboratory tested footballs ensures that all the soccer balls of our customers pass FIFA tests the first time. We at present have more than 30 balls in FIFA inspected or FIFA approved category for our customers.

Goals and Achievements

Our other company Ledwar Ltd was created in 2003 and is working with Umbro and has helped Umbro turn around its image in quality in soccerballs. All of the umbro`s top match balls are produced by us since 2004. Footballs made by us for our customers are played all around the globe. Our capacity being around 1 million balls a year which consist of all non PVC balls and start at the FIFA inspected category. This helps us to sustain the environment of quality and a standard that is amongst one of the best in the world. HISTORY

The History of Sialkot is no secret when it comes to the manufacturing of soccerballs. The development of soccer balls is an evolution which happened and continues to happen.

Our company was founded by a visionary leader, Syed Aftab Hussain, who believes in Social Justice and a love for the environment, at a time in 1970 which was a time of few companies manufacturing soccerballs of quality with responsibility. The production mainly consisted of Mitre branded soccerballs which are manufactured still at Leatherware pvt Ltd, after 39 years.

During this phase at Leatherware Ltd the manufacturing was mainly done at the factory premises including stitching. The presence of labor union ensured that workers benefited and the company produced product ethically and of the highest quality.

The next 2 decades after the 1970’s were a period of continued growth and prosperity and awareness. The workers number increased to 300 and there were 1200 stitchers outside the factory.

During the late 1990’s and early 2000’s Child labor was a visible factor that the soccer industry had to face together and we successfully with other factories and ILO created the Sialkot child Labor initiative. Leatherware Ltd as always was being responsible and joined the initiative at the first call. We created stitching centers and created a system of monitoring to check the presence of underage workers successfully and up to this date has maintained an A grade rating with the Chamber of commerce and industry Sialkot.

Leatherware is an ISO 9000 approved company and a member of the WFSGI.

At Leatherware Ltd we have a complete system in place that is based on the Fair Labor association although not FLA accredited we have 2 sections of monitoring:
